Description
Horcott House is a detached house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and features a stone slate roof, along with two dressed stone stacks that have moulded cornices. The building has a single L-plan layout, which was extended to the rear in the later 19th century. There are also small early 20th-century rendered and tile-hung extensions flanking the main front.
The house is mostly two storeys high. The front, facing south-west, has three coped gables with finials. The central gable slightly projects and features a two-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould, flanked by two similar three-light windows, all of which have arched heads and small wooden sashes with Gothick tracery. On the ground floor, there are two three-light windows of the same style, along with a central projecting porch that has gable ends and finials at the apex and lower corners. The porch includes an arched stone entrance with a square hoodmould and a half-glazed four-panel door at the rear. The end gables of the main range are also coped with finials. A 19th-century addition to the rear on the right-hand side is finished in incised render.
