Description
There are three chest tombs located about 17 meters southwest of the south porch in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary. From north to south, the tombs commemorate Mary Ann Beak or Bear, who died in 1830, Edmund Hill, who died in 1849, and an unidentified individual from 1752. All the tombs are made of limestone and feature a stepped tent top with a curved top moulding, a moulded plinth and capping, and a plain frieze. The Beak tomb has slightly fielded end and side panels with reeded flanking strips. The Hill tomb has recessed end and side panels, with low relief cartouches on the sides and reeded flanking strips. The unidentified tomb has fielded end panels, a plain south side, and a raised inscription panel on the north side, topped with a tall stepped design.
