Description
No. 43 is one of two cottages that likely started as a single building, dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with early ashlar stacks. The cottage has a rectangular plan and includes a later lean-to on the northwest gable end. It is 1 and a half stories tall and has a two-windowed garden front, which is lit by single-light and two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, along with a single two-light dormer that has a slate-hung roof.
The roadside front has a chimney on the right-hand gable that faces forward. There is a two-light casement with a concrete lintel on the ground floor and another two-light casement above it with a timber lintel. A 20th-century plank door with a glazed pane at the top is located to the left, accompanied by a gabled canopy that has a stone slate roof. Both the gable-end and axial stacks feature moulded cappings. The interior has not been inspected.
