Description
No. 5 Cricklade Street is a shop that dates from the 18th century, likely with origins in the 17th century. The front is finished in stucco, which is probably applied over timber framing, while the left side wall is painted ashlar. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, and no chimney stack is visible. The building is three stories high and has a single window range. The first floor features a late 18th-century sash window with three panes over six panes, set in a moulded timber surround with a timber cill. A similar window is present on the second floor. The ground floor has a 20th-century aluminium shopfront. There is a band course above the first floor, and the building is noted for having a winder staircase that connects the first and second floors.
