Description
6 and 8 Park Street is a former pair of shops with living accommodation above, now used as offices. The building dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of coursed squared limestone with a Welsh slate roof and no visible stack. It stands three storeys tall with cellars and features a four-window range.
On the first floor, there are four 6/6-pane sash windows set in plain reveals with projecting stone cills. Above, there are four similar 3/6-pane sashes. The ground floor includes a 19th-century three-light shop window with a combination of 2/2, 6/6, and 2/2-pane sashes divided by timber mullions, complete with a projecting stone cill on the right. The centre has similar openings with plate glass, while the left side features double doors.
There are three 6-panel doors with overlights; the centre door has the top two panels glazed, and the left door has a decorative overlight with plate glass replacing the upper four panels. All ground floor openings have reveals with small chamfers that are stop-chamfered at the top, and there is a continuous exposed timber lintel that is beaded over the openings. The building has a shallow plinth and an unmoulded band course at cornice level, topped with a coped parapet. Two gratings in the pavement below the shop windows provide light to the cellar. The interiors have not been inspected.
