Description

This is an early 19th-century house, later used as a shop with a flat above, located on Park Street, Cirencester. It is wedge-shaped, narrowing towards the rear. The front is built of limestone ashlar with stucco to the ground floor, and has a Welsh slate roof to the rear and a lead flat roof to the front. A rebuilt stack, now made of reconstituted stone, is located on the left end. The house has three storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. The first floor has two six-over-six sash windows in plain reveals with stone sills. The second floor matches this pattern. The ground floor has a similar window to the left and a plank door with an overlight to the right. A shallow plinth and band courses run above the ground and first floors. The band course on the first floor is shortened at the left end to align with the moulding that continues from the cornice of a nearby chapel. A moulded stone eaves cornice and a coped parapet complete the exterior. Internally, the house has undergone 20th-century alterations, including a late 20th-century staircase. Two blocked two-light stone-mullion windows, originally from Dunstall House, are visible on the first and second floors.
