Description
No. 18 The Chipping is a house located at the end of a terrace, featuring an early 19th-century front with 18th-century wings at the rear. The building is constructed of rendered rubble stone and has a slate roof with wooden eaves cornice supported by eight pairs of decorative brackets. The main front range has two adjacent rear ranges at right angles, along with an additional smaller wing, creating a U-shape. The house is two storeys high and has three windows on the upper floor, which are margin sashes set within plain cemented architraves. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows alongside a central doorcase. The doorcase features a semi-circular cemented architrave, impost blocks, and a keystone. The door itself has four bolection-moulded panels, with a semi-circular head at the top and a radial fanlight above.
