Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the early to mid-19th century, located in Sherborne village. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with an artificial stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. They have a rectangular plan and a two-storey, five-bay, four-windowed facade, symmetrical to each cottage. The first floor windows are two-light, double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The ground floor windows are three-light, double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The cottages feature part-glazed 19th-century front doors within flat-chamfered surrounds, topped with stone hoods supported on moulded brackets. Flat coping is present at the gable ends. Axial and gable-end stacks are also visible. A 20th-century lean-to at the rear is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
