Description
Stable Cottage is a house that likely once formed part of The Old Manor House, dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins, and features an ashlar stack that has been repaired with brick. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high with an attic.
The entrance front, which faces away from the road, has three windows. On the ground floor, there is an early three-light window with ovolo-moulded wood mullions and a two-light casement, which may have been set into a blocked doorway. The first floor features a four-light stone-mullioned casement with a king mullion, a two-light stone-mullioned casement, both with stopped hoods and moulded stone surrounds, and a single-light window with a moulded dressed stone surround. There is a 20th-century plank door with a timber lintel located off-centre to the left. The gable-end stack has a flat-chamfered plinth. The north side has a single small skylight, while the south side has two large skylights. The interior has not been inspected.
