Description
The Friends' Meeting House is a converted cottage, likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble with a Cotswold stone tile roof. The building features two four-light windows with drips on both fronts. There is a door on the south side, accessed through a passage, which has an arched surround on imposts. Although the interior has been altered, it still retains a panelled dado, a dais, and a gallery frontal of mid-18th century style, which is now built into the end partition wall. This building holds historical significance as it is probably the cottage referred to as "The Quakers' Meeting House" in a deed from 1757. It later served as a Baptist Chapel and then as a cottage, but has returned to being a Friends' Meeting House.
