Description

No. 3 Station Road is an end cottage in a row, originally built as two cottages, dating from the late 16th or early 17th century. The building is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof, and artificial stone slates to the rear. A large stone ridge stack is located on the left-hand side and is shared with the adjacent No. 4. The cottage has a single range with a small 20th-century rear extension, and is single storey with an attic. There are two gables facing the front, each containing a two-light stone mullion window with a dripmould. On the ground floor, there is a three-light stone mullion window similar to the left-hand gable, featuring a square hoodmould. A plank door is located between the gables, protected by a raking stone hood supported on brackets. A doorway on the right-hand side has been blocked and replaced with a two-light leaded casement window. A small newel light on the far left indicates the former location of a stone newel stair, which has since been removed. The ground floor rooms feature chamfered main beams.
