Description

Butchers Cottage is a detached, late 17th-century cottage situated on the north side of High Street, South Cerney. It has a gable end facing the street. The construction is of random coursed rubble stone, with a stone slate roof and a stone ridge stack with an offset. There is also a rear external stack with a brick flue. The cottage is a single long range, one storey high with an attic, and includes small rear lean-tos. A single, small central cross gable features a two-light wooden casement with a timber lintel. Three similar windows are present on the ground floor, and a projecting gabled porch, likely of the 20th century, is positioned to the right of the centre. The rear of the cottage has similar windows. The gable end facing the street has three 20th-century three-light casements.
