Description

A stable block dating to the late 18th century, located at Meysey Hampton Manor. The building is constructed of random coursed rubble stone with quoins to the centre section, and has a half-hipped stone slate roof. A 20th-century bellcote sits centrally, featuring six small wooden columns and a swept lead cupola on a polygonal cemented base. The building is single-range and single-storey with a loft.

The central projecting section exhibits alternating flush quoins and a shallow gable. A dovecote entry hole is visible as a small arch with a ledge, and a blocked pitch hole contains a Phoenix fire insurance plaque flanked by two plat bands. A semi-circular doorcase has a keystone, imposts and quoins, a decorative radial fanlight, and a plain faced door. To the left of the central section are two round-headed small windows with plain stone surrounds, keystones, imposts, a radial top light, and a central vent to a four-pane section below. A similar window is located to the right, and a shallow arched carriage entrance has a keystone, imposts, and quoins.
