Description

Causey Barn is a barn, likely dating from the late 18th century, which was extensively altered in the early to mid-19th century and subsequently converted into a detached house. It is constructed of thin-bedded rubble limestone with rubble chimneys and a stone slate roof. The building has a two-storey, L-shaped plan. The windows are segmental arched casements, originally providing two windows per house with a segmental arched doorway between, although most doorways have now been altered to casements. A doorway on the southwest side has a 19th-century part-glazed door and a gabled porch hood. Alterations to the right end of the southeast elevation include the insertion of 20th-century garage doors. Various ridge-mounted chimneys rise from the hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected. The barn occupies an important central position within the village.
