Description

J Armitage, formerly known as The Book Shop, is a building that was remodeled in 1798, as indicated by a datestone. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed from coursed rubble with a low pitched slate roof, featuring a stunted chimney on the left side. The building has two windows, which are 3 light casements dating from the 19th century. There is a band above the ground floor, which includes an angled shop window bay on the left and steps leading down to a central door. The door is adorned with wooden cut brackets and a flat hood. Additionally, there is a wrought-iron hanging sign from the 20th century above the entrance.
