Description

Two terraced houses, numbered 1 and 2 St George’s Square, were built around 1806. They are now used as flats. The houses are constructed of stucco over brickwork and have a mock-slate roof, with stucco detailing to the left end and party wall stacks.

The exterior is three storeys high with four windows on the first floor. The ground floor windows are 8/8 sashes, the first floor windows are 6/6 sashes, and the second floor windows are 3/6 sashes, all in plain reveals with sills. The sills to the left-hand house have keystones. The entrances are on the right-hand side, each featuring a six-panel door with a fanlight. The fanlight above the right-hand door has radial glazing bars, while the fanlight above the left-hand door has a batwing-and-circle glazing pattern. The left-hand entrance is framed by engaged columns and a broken pediment. A low parapet and copings top the façade. The rear of the building features 6/6 and 6/9 sashes.

The interior has not been inspected. St George's Square was laid out from 1806 onwards on a former field called Rack Close.
