Description
Manchester House, originally a Friends Meeting House and now a health club, was built in 1835. The building features ashlar stonework over brick and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical facade that includes a central entrance flanked by three windows on each side on the first floor. The outer sections of the building project slightly forward. There is a plinth and a band running along the first floor, topped with a cornice and a blocking course.
The first floor has four-over-four sash windows set in plain reveals with sills. The ground floor features outer casements, while the windows are interrupted by a solid porch located between the projecting sections. Steps lead up to the central entrance, which consists of double plank doors framed by plain pilasters and an architrave, complete with a frieze, cornice, and a blocking course that rises to the center. To the right, there is a lower two-storey bay with two-over-two sash windows on the first floor, and the ground floor has steps leading to a four-flush-panel door situated between two four-over-four sash windows, all topped with a frieze and cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
