Description
This is a row of four medieval recumbent effigies located in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter, immediately east of the porch. Made of limestone, these figures are dressed in long robes. The three effigies closest to the porch are likely the tombs of women, while the one furthest from the porch has shorter robes and lacks a headdress, suggesting it may represent a man. The hands and feet of this monument are missing, and the head and hands of the adjacent monument are also missing. All four effigies rest their feet on dogs, and the detail on the monuments is generally eroded. These monuments were discovered during the excavation for the new nave and north aisle in the late 19th century.
