Description

Brookside (Number 32) and attached area railings are a pair of houses dating to around 1830, located on Brookway Road in Charlton Kings. The houses were formerly known as Nos. 1 and 2 Brook Villas. They are constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a stucco facade, scored to imitate ashlar, and have a slate roof. The houses have two storeys with basements and four windows to the first floor; the left-hand house has an outshut to the basement. Flights of steps lead to the entrances on the right-hand side, with 20th-century doors and overlights containing glazing bars. The original windows are 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals with sills. Left-end stacks are present, with the stack on the far left rebuilt. The interior was not inspected. The iron porches have elongated-diamond uprights, a frieze with a circle motif, and tent roofs. Area railings are also present. The property forms a group with numbers 24, 26, and 28.
