Description
The London Inn is an inn built around 1834, located on the south side of London Road in Charlton Kings. The building features stucco over brick with a hipped slate roof and renewed brick ridge stacks. It is two storeys high and has five first-floor windows. There is a first-floor band and 8/8 sash windows on the first floor, which are set in plain reveals and have sills.
On the ground floor, there is an off-centre right entrance with a four-panel door that has a bracketed canopy hood above it. To the left of the entrance is a wide segmental coach arch with a keystone and plank doors. The ground floor also has three windows: a tripartite window with an 8/8 sash between two 2/2 sashes to the left, and two additional 8/8 sashes. The right return of the building has a three-bay design with a canted bay on the ground floor and casement windows, while the first-floor windows are in original openings, with the rightmost window being blind.
There is a link to a two-storey, three-bay brick extension that contains a 'functions' room on the first floor. The interior has been noted in previous listings as having two fireplaces. The inn was constructed after the new London Road was established in 1825-1826.
