Description
The boundary walls and gate piers to St Edward's Middle School were built around 1820 and have undergone later restorations. The gatepiers and end piers are made of ashlar stone, square in shape, and feature moulded capping. There are two piers in the entrance quadrant and a pair set back within the wall facing the street. The walls are constructed of pinkish-red brick in two stages, topped with stone capping that ramps up to the piers; they stand approximately 2 meters high and extend about 40 meters in length. The secondary gatepiers and additional end piers are made of brick with stone moulded capping. These structures contribute to the setting of the South-west Regency administration block of St Edward's Middle School, formerly known as Ashley Villa, and are an important feature of the streetscape.
