Description
These gates, gate piers, and railings date to approximately 1847 and form an important element of the streetscape. They originally served Fauconberg House, now part of Cheltenham Ladies’ College. The composition features one and a half pairs of iron gate piers decorated with an anthemion design and antefixae, though one pier lacks iron ornament. The gates themselves have spearhead finials. The iron railings are now only partially extant, surviving from the western gate pier for approximately 3 metres towards the corner of Bayshill Road. The remaining standards, also adorned with spearheads, have dogleg structures.
