Description
This is a villa, dating to approximately 1830 to 1850, that has been converted into offices. The building is stucco over brickwork and has a concealed roof.
Architecturally, it is three storeys high with a basement, and features five windows on the first floor. The end and central bays project forward. Stucco detailing includes horizontal rustication on the ground floor, a band at the first floor level, and all windows are set within tooled architraves, with the exception of the basement windows. A modillion cornice tops the building, supporting a low parapet. The ground floor windows in the projecting bays are 6/6 sashes in 2/2 frames, while the other ground and first floor windows are 6/6 sashes. The second floor and basement windows are 3/6 sashes. The left return fronting Bayshill Road has four first floor windows, with similar projecting bays and stucco detailing and 6/6 windows to the ground and first floors, with the other sashes being 3/6.
The interior has not been inspected.
The building occupies a prominent corner site in the Bayshill area and abuts the Former St George’s House (also known as Kraft Offices) on Bayshill Road. Later additions and alterations were made in the 1980s, including the addition of attics and conversion to a hotel.
