Description
The Gifford headstone, dated 1771, is located approximately 20 metres east-north-east of the aisle of the Church of St Mary in Spreyton. This headstone commemorates Joan Gifford and is made of slate. It features an upright slab with a shaped head, standing about 1 meter high. The top of the headstone is carved with a winged cherub's head, positioned above an inscription in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering that notes the death of Joan Gifford in 1771.
