Description
This building is a barn located approximately 20 metres to the north-east of Fishleigh House, dating from the late 17th century. It features rendered cob and rubble walls and a hipped thatch roof. The barn has a long rectangular shape with a threshing barn at the center, a former cider house at the right-hand end, and a shippon or animal house at the left-hand end.
The exterior includes a single-storey barn at the center, with ranges on either side. The front is long and asymmetrical, featuring a central cart entrance with projecting cheeks and a thatch canopy above. There is a door at the right-hand end and another to the left of center, which has a loading hatch above and a small window to its left. Additionally, there are two blocked slits below the eaves on either side of the cart entrance, along with pigeon holes on both sides.
Inside, the left-hand part has heavy chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. The roof timbers, likely from the 18th century, consist of rough straight principals with purlins running along their backs and collars slightly set into the trusses.
