Description

This is a house located about 50 meters northeast of Ireland Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from stone and cob, topped with a wooden shingle roof from the 1940s that is gabled at both ends, and was formerly thatched. The house features a large stone chimney at the left gable end and a brick chimney at the right gable end. The roof has been raised with courses of concrete block.

There is a single-storey lean-to addition from the late 20th century, and both this addition and the rear stair turret have been rendered. The original layout likely consisted of a direct entry, two-cell house with one heated room and a rear stair turret. The chimney at the right gable end may have been added when the house was divided into two cottages, probably in the 19th century.

The house is two storeys high with an irregular three-window front, featuring two plank doors at the center. The first-floor windows on the left and right are two-light casements with four panes per light, while the left and center windows are similar, and the right window is a three-light casement.

Inside, there is a large fireplace in the stone stack, which includes a stop-chamfered beam and a cloam oven. The ceiling beams are roughly hewn and wany, and the floor is made of stone. The rectangular stair turret contains a newel stair with oak treads. The principals are visible in the upstairs rooms, but there was no access to the roof space during the survey in 1985.
