Description

Millhouse at Lew Mill is a building dating from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof that is gabled at both ends. The original early 18th-century structure is a small building with a millhouse wing, while the millhouse was rebuilt in the 19th century, creating an L-plan layout. The early 18th-century section features a large projecting gable end stack with set-offs and is noted to have been used only at night, as the leat was diverted during the daytime to operate a sawmill.
