Description
Widdicombe Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered cob on stone rubble and features a 20th-century tile roof with rendered stone stacks at the gable ends and one similar stone stack on the ridge. The building has a three-room and through passage plan, with the hall stack backing onto the passage. At the rear, there are lean-tos, one of which contains the staircase. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front, with a slightly off-centre front door. The windows are 19th and 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, and the ground floor window on the right has a lowered sill. The interior retains the through passage plan. Although the hall fireplace is from the 20th century, large granite jambs are said to survive. There are two chamfered cross beams in the hall, which have diagonal stops. The interiors of the inner and lower end rooms have been modernized, and the roof space has not been inspected.
