Description
Lowertown Cottages is a row of four cottages built in the mid to late 19th century as part of a group of estate cottages by the Newman family, who are also associated with the parish church and Coryton House. The cottages are constructed from stone rubble with granite dressings and feature an asbestos slate hipped roof that is gableted at the ends. There are two stone stacks with brick shafts located on the ridge. The cottages have a double depth plan, with the middle cottages having adjoining porches. They are two storeys high and have a symmetrical four-window front, with entrances accessed through gabled stone porches. The ground floor windows are three-light casements with four panes per light, while the first floor windows are similar two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages contribute to an attractive group of mid to late 19th century estate cottages.
