Description

Cook Stores, originally known as the Old Corn Market, is a hardware store built in 1835 by the Duke of Bedford. The building is two storeys high, with the upper floor constructed of squared rubble featuring granite window openings and sash windows. The lower floor, which was originally open, is supported by granite Doric columns. The roof is hipped and covered with slate. The elevation facing King Street has eight bays and includes incised lettering on the entablature.
