Description
The garden walls and gateway, located approximately 2 metres south of Beechwood House, date from the early 19th century. They are constructed of uncoursed stone rubble with roughly dressed battlemented coping, and feature some cob at the eastern end topped with 20th-century clay-tile coping. The walls retain and enclose the garden to the south of Beechwood House, returning south at the eastern end and stepping back to the west where the gateway is situated. The wall ramps up to the gateway, which is flanked by a pair of square stone piers and a pair of 19th-century cast-iron gates that include dog bars and dog rails. Below the retaining wall, there is a flight of stone steps leading to a small opening at the top of the steps, which has a stone lintel and a small wrought-iron gate.
