Description
Barnacle Cottage is a building that was originally two cottages, now functioning as a single house. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and underwent alterations around 1960. The exterior features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble, with a gabled concrete tile roof that replaced the original thatch. There is a mid-19th century brick stack on the left end and a stone stack finished in mid-19th century brick on the right. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. Timber lintels are present over the central late 19th century panelled door and 19th century windows, which have glazing bars and are set in beaded frames. Inside, there is a chamfered beam and a flat stone arch over an open fireplace that includes a cloam oven in the room on the left. Barnacle Cottage is attached to the left of Nos. 10 and 11.
