Description

The Baptist Chapel, built in 1829, is located on the north side of New Street, set back from and partly behind No. 82. The return walls of the adjacent houses feature sunk round-headed panels. The chapel itself has a two-storey front with three windows, finished in stucco. It has a truncated gable with a moulded coping. The round-headed windows include glazing bars, and there is a round-headed doorway with a fanlight, rusticated quoins, and a case. In the gable, there is a panel that displays "Baptist Chapel 1829" in raised lettering from the same period. The chapel is part of a group that includes Nos 48, 48A, 50, 72, 80, 82, as well as Nos 90, 92, 110, 112, and 130.
