Description

Porch House, located at 83 New Street, dates from around 1700 and has undergone alterations. This two-storey building features seven first-floor flush frame sash windows with glazing bars and a dark red brick front. It has a cove cornice and a string course at the first floor that includes two courses of diagonally set headers. On the ground floor, there is a splayed bay window on the left with altered glazing. The later brick porch appears to have been adapted from a Tuscan design, and the roof is covered with later slates. The brick chimneys have moulded caps. Porch House is part of a group with Nos 77, 77A, and 83.
