Description
This is a range of shippons located approximately 10 metres to the south-west of Great Barlington Farmhouse, likely built in the early 18th century. The structure is made of cob on a coursed stone rubble plinth and features a half-hipped roof covered with corrugated asbestos, which was originally thatched. The shippons face the farmyard to the north and are one storey with a loft.
On the exterior, there is a plank loft door on the left with a wooden frame and wooden lintel, and below it, a ground-floor window with brick dressings dating from around 1900. To the left, there is a ground-floor plank door with a wooden lintel, and to the right, there are two ground-floor plank doors, also with wooden lintels, along with a small window between them. A continuous lean-to porch from around 1900 is attached to the right-hand doorways.
The interior has not been inspected. This range of shippons is part of a complete farmstead group that includes Great Barlington Farmhouse and another range of farm buildings.
