Description
This is a range of outbuildings, including a former stable, located about 5 metres north of South Knighton House. The buildings are arranged parallel to the house on the north side of the rear courtyard and date from the late 16th century or early 17th century to the 19th century. They are constructed from stone rubble and cob, topped with a hipped roof covered in tarred slates. The interior features compartments divided by solid walls of cob and stone, which have had doorways cut through them later, indicating that they were originally external walls. One loose box includes a chamfered upper floor beam with step stops. The roof trusses are from the 18th or 19th century, with collars pegged to the faces of the principal rafters. This range of outbuildings is included for its group value with the main house.
