Description
Rainbow Cottage and Rainbow End is a house and adjoining cottage that was formerly an almshouse, likely dating from the 18th century or earlier. The building is constructed of whitewashed rendered cob and stone, topped with a thatched roof that has gabled ends. It features end stacks and two axial stacks. The structure has a single depth plan, which suggests it may have originally contained four dwellings.
The exterior consists of two storeys and has a long front with four windows. There are two adjacent doorways, one of which has a thatched porch and is located to the left of the centre. The windows are two-light casements, glazed with 20th-century leaded panes. The interior has not been inspected but may still contain interesting features. The building has group value with other structures in an exceptionally unspoiled village centre.
