Description
No 40 on Fore Street is a small house, likely built alongside the adjoining No 38, and dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof that is gabled at both ends, with a stack located at the left end. The house has a single depth front block and a deep plan with a separately roofed rear wing. The exterior comprises two storeys, with a window front that includes a 20th-century front door positioned to the left of center, topped by an early 19th-century cornice supported by brackets. The windows are four-pane sashes, each with square-headed hoodmoulds that have label stops, resembling those of the adjacent No 38. The interior has not been inspected.
