Description

The Highweek War Memorial is dedicated to local men who lost their lives while serving in the First World War from 1914 to 1918, with additional dedications to those who fell in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945 and the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. The memorial features an octagonal granite Latin cross, which stands 4 meters high and is set on a two-tiered octagonal plinth with a base. It is inscribed with leaded lettering.

The front face of the lower octagonal plinth bears the inscription: 'IN MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF HIGHWEEK / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918', alongside the names of 61 fallen soldiers on the adjacent faces. The inscription above notes the years 1939 / 1945, with the names of 50 fallen soldiers on the adjacent faces, including three parishioners who died during an air raid. The base of the cross has the inscription KOREA / 1950, with the name of the fallen soldier listed below it.
