Description

Goodstone Cottage is a cottage, believed to have once served as a tollhouse, located on the old A38, which is now an access road to the new A38. The building dates from the 17th century or earlier and has a rear addition. Its front is solid roughcast, while the left side wall is slate-hung. The roof is hipped and slated, and there are two large roughcast chimneys on the rear wall. The cottage has two storeys, with a single-storey lean-to at the rear. It features two widely spaced windows and a centre gabled wood porch. The windows are two-light wood casements, each consisting of two panes. The interior has not been inspected, but a description from 1973 notes "stop-chamfered hewn beams."
