Description

The Caroline Reed Memorial is located 1 metre east of the south transept of the Church of St Nectan in Ashcombe. This headstone, dating from the late 19th century, is made of stone and iron. It features an arched headstone with a bird carved in a trefoil at the top, and the inscription commemorates Caroline Reed, who died in 1868. In front of the headstone, there is a low enclosure bounded by barleysugar iron standards topped with decorative finials, with ornamental chains suspended between them.
