Description

The war memorial, erected around 1920, is located to the north of the churchyard of St John the Evangelist at the junction of Ashburton Road and Newton Road. It features a wooden calvary cross topped with a tiled canopy. On the north face of the cross, there is a carved figure of Christ, and the date ‘1914-1918’ is inscribed at the chamfered base of the shaft. The cross is set on a square granite base that has a pyramidal top.
