Description

The Sarah Smith chest tomb, located immediately west of the south porch of the Church of St Clement, is an early 18th-century structure. It is made of red sandstone, granite, and freestone. The tomb is a low rectangular chest constructed from red sandstone and granite, featuring a plinth that oversails a freestone lid. The lid bears an inscription commemorating Sarah Smith, who died in 1727.
