Description

This small house, possibly consisting of two dwellings, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar with stone dressings and features a slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles. The roof is gabled at both ends and includes decorative curly barge boards. There are front and rear lateral stacks, as well as a left end stack with a stone shaft. The architectural style is Gothic.

The house is located in the west corner of the churchyard and has an L-shaped plan that faces High Street, with a porch situated at the angle between the two blocks, providing front doors into each section. The main block is two stories tall, while a single-storey rear wing faces the churchyard. The front elevation to High Street is asymmetrical, with one window and a gabled section on the left that is set back on the right. There is an attractive open timber Gothic porch at the angle, featuring 19th-century plank front doors. To the left on the ground floor, there is a three-light transomed casement window with a cranked head, and directly above it, a similar two-light casement window on the first floor. The block on the right is blind except for the front door and has a projecting lateral stack with set-offs. The right side of the building, facing the churchyard, has a gabled section on the left with transomed windows similar to those on the High Street side, and the rear elevation features similar windows as well. The rear wing includes one doorway and three one-light windows. The interior has not been inspected, but the building is well-preserved and occupies an important position in the village.
