Description
The tombstone of John Cavell is located in the churchyard, 2.5 meters southeast of the southeast corner of the south aisle. This 17th-century tombchest is made of slatestone. The north face features the slate tombstone of John Cavell of Tor Court, who died in 1635, along with his wife Cicilia, who died in 1622, and their children John, whose date of death is illegible, and Elizabeth Cavell, who died in the 1630s. The inscription is a good example of incised script, well set out and well cut, and is free from significant weathering.
