Description

Widdicombe Cross is likely a wayside cross from the medieval period. It is a granite monolith approximately 2 metres tall, featuring a Latin cross design with a square-section tapered shaft and short arms. The cross is not inscribed or carved and is set on a later slate base. Before being placed at this location around 1880, the cross was apparently situated in the yard of Widdicombe House. Its exact history is unclear.
