Description
Lower Preston is a farmhouse with an adjoining cart shed. The rear wing dates from the 17th century, while the main part of the building was remodeled in 1830. It is constructed from whitewashed stone rubble and features a slate-hung front. The roof is made of asbestos slate and has gabled ends. The building has an L-shaped plan with a slate roof and stands two storeys high. It has four windows, which are sashes with glazing bars, although two on the ground floor have been replaced with 20th-century casements. There is a glazed door to the left of the center. A datestone is marked c.830. The farmhouse has a large rendered chimney stack on the rear wall and additional stacks at the gable ends. The rear wing includes two ovolo moulded three-light wooden mullion windows with leaded panes. The cart shed, built in the 19th century, is located at right angles to the rear wing and forms a U-shaped plan around a small yard.
