Description
Beara Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed with a rendered stone rubble ground storey and cob above. It features an asbestos slate hipped roof and stands two storeys tall with a four-window range, which includes 20th-century casements. To the left of the central chimney stack, which has been rebuilt at the top, there is a cross-passage doorway. An additional chimney stack is located at the east end of the building. The rear of the farmhouse has 19th and 20th-century outshuts.
Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered ceiling beams in the central room and the room at the lower end, with the latter beam featuring stops. The room at the higher end has a massive, roughly hewn ceiling beam. There is also a chamfered lintel above the door at the rear of the cross-passage.
