Description
The gate-piers, gate, and steps located southeast of the Church of St Michael are likely from the 18th century. They are constructed from slate rubble and feature dressed slate caps on the piers. The piers are rectangular in shape and have been rebated on the inside to accommodate the gates. The slate caps are adorned with an ovolo moulded cornice. The wrought iron gate, which dates from the late 19th century, has curved braced shafts and spear-head details. The ground outside the churchyard is significantly lower, and access to the gateway is provided by a broad flight of slate steps, which are flanked by walls.
