Description
The gate-piers, gate, and steps located to the south and southwest of the Church of St Michael are likely from the 18th century. They are constructed from dressed slate rubble and feature dressed slate caps. The tall square piers, designed for a pedestrian gateway, have rebates on the insides for a gate. The caps are adorned with cavetto-moulded cornices. The wrought iron gate, dating from the late 19th century, includes curved braces and spearhead shafts. The ground outside the churchyard is significantly lower, necessitating a flight of stone steps leading up to the gateway.
